Hello friend, I'm happy you've stumbled across my portfolio site! I'm Zach, and this is my platform to share my creative projects with the world. I really enjoy the process of making new things and learning new skills, and this is sort of an exhibit for that work.
I'm currently based out of Morrisville North Carolina, where I work professionally as a Senior Software Engineer. My 12-year journey in the software industry began with a role as a software tester in telecom. This initial experience opened doors to various positions, from Senior Test Engineer handling feature, performance, and system testing to Senior Automation Engineer responsible for automated test plans. In 2018, I embraced a career shift into software development.
Despite the occasional challenges, the inherent creativity in software engineering never fails to captivate me. There are always problems to be solved, which means that there are always new things to be learned. My career shift was a humbling experience that made me realize how much I had yet to learn about everyday technologies. What's more, each problem feels like a unique puzzle with multiple solutions waiting to be uncovered.
Scattered around this site, you'll find various personal projects and writings that have come from my journey of learning. I hope that you're able to find something interesting or even learn something new!
Enjoy your visit!
What started as an experiment to break up my work day has now become one of the best parts of my day. In a time where everyone has so much going on, sometimes the thing we need most is nothing.
After my post yesterday I noticed my code blocks were overflowing on blog pages. Thankfully there's an easy fix to that issue, but it took me a bit to find.
I recently used Zola and Tailwind to rebuild my personal website and blog. I'd like to share my development experience and some of the things I learned along the way.
